Spice it up!
There are some great eating options available in Philly ranging from Cheesteaks to multi-speciality ethnic restaurants. Though this is not an exhaustive list, here are some of the good ones around campus in each category. Mexican Food - The ones close to campus are Mad-Mex (34th and Sansom) and Q'Doba(40th and Locust). There are also a chain of Taco Bells including those at 30th street station and CVS food court. Thai Food - The closest Thai joint is LemonGrass on 36th and Lancaster Avenue. Some good options are lese known restaurants in Chinatown and Tamarind on South Street. Chinese Food - There are many order-in and eat-in chinese joints around campus but the most popular ones are Won Oriental( 40th and Locust) and New Number One (42nd and Walnut). The options in Chinatown and its famous Moo-Goo-Gai-Pan are certainly worth checking out. Italian Food - The Olive garden (13th and Chestnut) is by far the most popular and closest Italian joint amongst Drexel students. Apart from this, Ralph's Italian Restaurant on 9th and South Street is certainly one of the best in the cities. Pizza - Ed's (35th and lancaster), California and Village (both 33rd and Powelton) are the three main pizza houses on the campus and there is a raging debate about which is the best. Mad Greek's is another Pizza store right next to Ed's. Cheesteak - Tim's Cheesteak at the Reading Terminal Market is the most popular cheesteak house in Philly. However, the closest and most popular near the campus, is Abner's on 39th and Chestnut. Greek Food - South Street Souvlaki on 5th and South Street is one of the best Greek restaurants in Philly and though there is none close to campus, the other popular ones are Estia(14th and Locust) and Effie's (11th and Pine) Coffee/Misc. - Starbucks has an outlet right on campus inside the Pearlstein building and also one on 34th and Walnut. Another good coffee place is Bucks County Coffee on 40th and Spruce. Bubble House on 34th and Sansom is famous for its bubble tea and interesting cuisine. Cosi on 36th and Walnut is a great salad and sandwiches place. |
